My current working hypothesis is that parallel alignments between the tail of long period comets and the Earth Moon system result in a build up of charge on the Earth. The charge is coming from the Sun and inducted to the Earth and Moon from the stream of energy flowing through the comets tail. When the Earth and Moon alignment points to an object further out from the Sun such as Jupiter, the energy stored by the Earth is discharged. The discharge event is felt as an earthquake. Comet Elenin’s tail had very good electrical properties and on its approach had affected the Earth more than most comets would. Elenin for whatever reason lost its tail late on September 2nd and for a while had negligible effect on the Earth. The recent return of significant earthquakes could be evidence that Elenin’s tail is growing again.
