Imagine yourself witnessing the destruction of the world in 2012. Because of the planets in our solar system, the sun and the galactic center aligning, there are insanely strong winds, huge tidal waves, and people running around screaming in fear. The supposed 2012 planetary alignment is one of many theories that may cause the end of the world in 2012. So what’s actually going to happen? Is it all hype with no scientific backing, or is there truth to it? I will answer these questions and more.

OK, here’s the deal. The planetary alignment is really not anything special. The truth is, its impossible for the planets in our solar system to completely align, because there is a slight tilt in each of the planets orbits. Therefore, a real planetary alignment will never happen.

The galactic alignment however, is a completely different story. You probably know this, but the galactic alignment means the sun will align with the center of the galaxy. The thing is though, this has already happened. The galactic alignment is a 36 year process which started in 1980 and ends in 2016, which means the sun was most accurately aligned in 1998. I’ts worth noting that various sceptics don’t believe this is enough to disprove that anything strange will happen because of the galactic alignment.

The 2012 planetary alignment is just one of many doomsday theories. It can be difficult to know who to trust, especially when the media won’t hesitate to use scare tactics in order to make money.
